Synopsis
In commemoration of the 60th anniversary of Korean Independence Day, One Shining Day was produced in the summer of 2005 with Seoul, Tokyo and Jeju Island as its background settings. It is an omnibus feature film portraying Korean and Japanese youth living the present day through their one day journey.
“Episode 1: The Treasure Island”
From the director of “In the Mirror”. Two Japanese girls, Mie and Eiko travel to Jeju Island in search for the treasure which was hidden during the Japanese colonial period by Mie’s grandfather according to his will. They get threatened by rowdies, but they find the way out of the dangerous situation...
“Episode 2: Good-bye”
A heart rending painful growth story of a teenage Korean boy. Jong-hwan is a kind of trouble maker at home and even at school. He keeps taking a risk of defrauding people’s money with a laptop-computer, to make money for reunion with his mother who lives in Japan.
“Episode 3: The Beautiful Strangers”
A little romance with a bright and light-hearted rhythm. On arriving at the airport, Ishida, a Japanese man starts running to catch the flight to Japan. He ends up missing his flight by bumping against Go-ny, a Korean girl working at a duty-free shop at the airport. After a while, they get to meet up once again at the airport and spend some time together…
