Dell’s flagship Flexible Computing desktop platform, the OptiPlex FX160 thin client, has been certified for use with VMware View virtualized desktop environments.
The OptiPlex FX160, as a flexible computing node, can be deployed as part of Dell’s Flexible Computing Solutions as a streamed client or as a thin client.
In today’s economic environment, a certified, well-supported virtual desktop solution offers valuable potential benefits to enterprises, such as increased flexibility and scalability, improved security, simplified IT management, and lower long-term total cost of ownership (TCO).
Flexibility and Scalability: Dell’s OptiPlex FX160 gives customers the flexibility to deploy the right solution for each user. VMware VIEW combines the performance of a personalized end-user desktop with the flexibility of a virtual PC.
Maximized Security: Dell’s OptiPlex FX160 is a thin client, featuring a secure embedded OS, Endpoint Protection software and SmartCard keyboard options. VMware View reduces data security risks by centralizing confidential data in a central location, using built-in SSL encryption for secure tunneling and delivering enhanced access controls.
Lower Total Cost of Ownership: The OptiPlex FX160 with VMware View helps reduce hardware management costs through a long product lifecycle of up to 36 months, stable desktop images and managed transitions, and by simplifying administration
